Going to Hospital NHS Lothian

What To Bring

What else to bring with you

If you are staying in hospital overnight, please bring basic personal items such as night clothes, a dressing gown, slippers, soap, a toothbrush and toothpaste, a comb or hairbrush, shampoo, deodorant, hand or face cream, and (if required) a shaving kit.
Shaving points are available on each ward, and adaptor plugs can be provided if needed.

If you are able to wear day clothes during your stay, ward staff will let you know. Laundry services are not available and we would advise you to ask a member of your family or a friend to take home any clothes that need to be washed.

Bring your medicines with you when coming to hospital

If you’re coming to the hospital, bring any medications you’re taking with you. This includes prescription & non-prescription medication such as inhalers, tablets, eye drops etc. Click here for information: My Meds & Sustainability – NHS Lothian | Our Services
