COVID-19 Vaccination

COVID-19 Programme

Your best protection against coronavirus. NHS Scotland strongly recommends you get the vaccine when offered it.

Following updated guidance from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), eligibility for COVID-19 vaccination this winter is more limited than in previous years.

Unless individuals also belong to a COVID-19 priority group (e.g. those who are immunosuppressed), the following groups are not eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine in winter 2025/26:

  • Adults aged 65 – 74
  • People in risk groups, including pregnant women
  • Frontline health and social care workers

The JCVI’s revised strategy prioritises those at the greatest risk of serious illness or death.  Primarily the very elderly and people who are immunosuppressed.

All of the groups listed above remain eligible for a flu vaccine this winter.

How To Get Vaccinated

Invitations will be sent to groups aged 75 and over and those aged 6 months or over and have a weakened immune system:

  • Digital invitations (text or email) will be sent to those who have opted for digital communication.
  • Postal invitations will be sent to those who have not opted for digital communication.

Local Health & Social Care Partnership (HSCP) Teams will contact care homes to arrange vaccination of their residents.
