Please make sure you have read all the information on our applying to be a volunteer page, are able to manage our minimum commitments and are willing and able to take part in our training programme before starting your application. PLEASE NOTE: Our volunteering roles take place in hospitals across the Lothian area, please factor in your travel arrangements before applying and avoid applying for roles that will involve considerable travel for you (e.g., longer than 40 minutes). For the majority of our volunteering roles, we ask for a regular weekly commitment at the same time and day each week. Please ensure you can commit to this before applying to volunteer with us. If your availability varies from week to week and you cannot make this weekly commitment e.g., you do shift work with varying shift patterns, we will be unable to place you in a volunteering role at this time. Our volunteer recruitment will open from 9am on Wednesday 25th February 2026 until 12pm on Monday 9th March 2026 for volunteer roles across the following locations: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh Western General HospitalSt John’s Hospital Our Volunteer Opportunities page will be updated with the details of what roles are available and our upcoming interview and training dates by Friday 6th February. Please ensure you indicate which role and site you are applying for before you submit your application. You must also ensure you can attend at least one of the interview or training dates for your chosen site as alternatives are not available. Applications may close early if we receive a high number so please get your application in early.
